Description

Salvia patens 'Chilcombe', native to Mexico and Guatemala. Very large intense lavender flowers on strong stems arising from bushy, aromatic foliage. Sells on sight! This was a chance seedling of the species found in a garden in west Dorset, more accurately the Chilcombe estate. Tends to grow slightly more compact. 

  • Height & spread: 50 - 60cm.
  • Flowers: May/June - October.
  • Borderline hardy.
  • Plant sold in a 2 Litre pot.

Planting & Care Guide

  • Mulch well in Autumn or lift out tubers and store in a dry frost-free environment.
  • Full sun.
  • Well draining soil.
  • Watch out for slugs and snails on emerging spring growth.
