Description
Zanthoxylum piperitum, the Szechuan pepper originates from mountainous regions of China and Japan. It is a hardy deciduous bushy shrub, which has vibrant glossy green leaves that turn yellow in the autumn. Sprays of yellow-green flowers form in the summer, which turn into small red fruit in the autumn, inside these are small black seeds that can be dried to make Szechuan sauce!
